4 things you should know about mainframes and SOA

IBM user group executives from Share were out this week drumming up interest for their upcoming meeting in Orlando, Fla., but also playing up some of the more important aspects of the group's recently released study of its members' mainframe trends and directions.
Move toward an open community?: While no one is likely to confuse mainframe application development with the open source community just yet, the idea that SOA could promote a community of developers that could share technology is something the mainframe users would like to see.

Family dinner at the Impact house

They slowly wheel the old man up the stairs into the Impact residence. Inside it is bustling with activity. People laughing and talking loud over each other while children chase each other up and down the massive stairwell. They settle grandpa "Kicks" in the living room in front of the television. His daughter seems concerned that he will be in a separate room from the rest of the family. "Now Dad - are you sure that you will be ok here?". "Yeah I'm fine - stop fussing over me!" he replies with frustration in his voice.

Here is a short list of Vendor packages and their version that are compatibility with CICS TS V3.2.
At this time the list only contains version for software I had experience with.

CICS Wiki launched.

Today we launched a brand new site www.cicswiki.org.

This site runs the same software as Wikipedia and is intended to act as a knowledge base for the CICS community.

This site does not compete with the CICS Community web site that Ian Steyn and I already maintain. ( www.pcs305.com ) In fact you will notice that all the news and forum functions on the CICS Wiki points to the CICS Community website.
