GT Software enables smooth transition for customers upgrading to the newest version of CICS

ATLANTA, July 26, 2011 – GT Software, a leading provider of mainframe integration and mainframe data access solutions, announced that Ivory BMS/TS and ASSIST/TS® have been enhanced to support the new IBM release, CICS TS V4.2.

“As mainframe systems like CICS continue to innovate and grow, so will GT Software solutions. That’s been our tradition from day one. From the time Ivory® was introduced in 1984, to the present day, our solutions kept pace with new technologies and advancements,” said Steve Able, Chief Technology Officer for GT Software. “With Ivory BMS/TS 8.6.0 and ASSIST/TS 7.3.0, our customers can easily and confidently migrate to CICS TS V4.2 and be assured that GT Software solutions will be compatible.”

CICS TS V4.2 builds upon the new and enhanced capabilities developed and delivered in Version 4.1, to enable customers to compete in the marketplace, comply with standards and regulations, and control their IT processes.

Ivory BMS/TS is a powerful BMS screen generator that enables developers to reduce the time it takes to build, edit and maintain BMS maps by 80 to 90 percent. Ivory BMS Studio, the newest addition to Ivory BMS/TS, provides the same enhanced map development loved in Ivory BMS/TS without being connected to the mainframe. Ivory BMS Studio offers intuitive, drag-and-drop map development using a graphical user interface.

Highlights of Ivory BMS/TS 8.6.0 include:
  • Forward and backward compatibility with CICS TS 3.1, 3.2, 4.1 and the new 4.2 with 64-bit extensions
  • Integration with Ivory Service Architect to easily build BMS-based web services
  • Virtual storage constraint relief during batch execution
  • Improved installation procedure and product documentation

ASSIST/TS allows developers to provide screen or field level help screens to 3270 applications without coding or code changes. Easy to configure and use, it enables the replacement of outdated and inflexible help systems.

Highlights of ASSIST/TS 7.3.0 include:
  • Forward and Backward compatibility with CICS TS 3.1, 3.2, 4.1 and the new 4.2 with 64-bit extensions
  • Custom utilities and extensions migrate and convert from Preference®
  • Virtual storage constraint relief during batch execution
  • Improved installation procedure and product documentation

“GT Software solutions are well established in the marketplace, and we remain committed to supporting customers with solutions that seamlessly integrate with today’s leading technologies,” Able said.
